LAHORE: Former Bangladesh captain and veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has signed up for the highly-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 players draft, the franchise league announced on Thursday.

Shakib, who has not played international cricket for Bangladesh since October this year, has featured in three editions of the marquee league.

The all-rounder represented Karachi Kings in the inaugural edition in 2016, while his last stint came for Peshawar Zalmi in 2023, where he could play only one match.

Overall, Shakib has played 14 PSL matches and scored 181 runs at a dismal average of 16.45 with the help of one half-century.

On the bowling front, the left-arm spinner has eight wickets to his name in 12 innings with the best bowling figures of 2/14.

For the unversed, Shakib Al Hasan is the seventh foreign player to have signed up for the upcoming 10th edition of the marquee league, joining compatriot Mustafizur Rahman, Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza, England’s Tom Curran, David Willey and Jason Roy and Australia’s Usman Khawaja.

It is pertinent to mention that the highly-anticipated player draft will be held in Balochistan for the first time, with Gwadar hosting the key event on January 11, 2025.

The pick order for the player draft has also been announced, with two-time champions Lahore Qalandars making the first pick in the opening round of the platinum category, followed by arch-rivals Karachi Kings.

2019 champions Quetta Gladiators will make the third pick, while Peshawar Zalmi will have the fourth.

Last season’s runners-up, Sultans, and reigning champions United will make the fifth and sixth picks, respectively.
